About the event

We are excited to announce an upcoming event with Rev. Petra Thombs, the minister of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Central Nassau. Rev. Thombs addresses the Doctrine of Discovery and how it has fostered racism and extreme marginalization of Indigenous nations and communities globally. Her insights will provide a thought-provoking and alternative perspective on the traditional narrative of Thanksgiving.  As a graduate of Union Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity, having majored in Church History, Rev. Thombs brings academic and practical experience to her work. She retired from her career in the NYC Dept of Education and is a lifelong poet who writes about historical, cultural, religious, and firsthand experiences, expressing the perspectives of marginalized communities.

We invite you to join us for this collaborative and informative event with Rev. Petra Thombs on Thanksgiving and its alternative perspective.
